Great Day!

We had a wonderful day today! We started off at the King Center where students were asked to focus on the question: "Why does Dr. King get a historical center and a holiday? What makes him stand out among the all the other civil rights activists?". Our evening discussion and journal time tonight after pool time will center around this topic.

We also went to the APEX museum (African-American Panoramic Experience) where we learned about Africa before slavery and the history of the road where Dr. King's birth home sits--Sweet Auburn avenue!

We ended the day at the birth home where we found out that Dr. King was mischievous as a kid (just like we all can be!!)

Now we are at our hotel in Montgomery enjoying some time together before we pick up Renee at the airport. She is joining us for the Alabama leg of the journey.

Tomorrow it's the Southern Poverty Law Center in Montgomery and the National Voting Rights Museum in Selma.

Stay tuned!
